A knee replacement planned around you
Imagine a knee replacement planned with intelligent robotic assistance and performed with exceptional precision. At Globus Hospital, Kanpur, the advanced MISSO Robotic System by Meril assists the surgeon in planning and executing total knee replacement with greater control and accuracy.
Its technology helps the surgeon achieve precise bone cuts and accurate implant positioning, tailored to your individual knee anatomy. The system supports a controlled, minimally invasive approach, with the aim of reducing unnecessary tissue trauma and helping you begin rehabilitation sooner.
The technology is advanced, but the idea is simple: better surgical planning, greater precision, and a renewed opportunity to walk with confidence.
How MISSO works
- Pre-operative planning Your knee is mapped and a plan is built around your unique anatomy, including the implant size, position and alignment.
- Precise bone cuts with robotic guidance A tracking camera follows your knee in real time while the robotic arm guides the saw to the planned depth and angle.
- Accurate implant positioning The implant is placed to match the plan, for better alignment and fit.
- Real-time assessment of balance and stability Knee balance and movement are checked during surgery, before the final implant is fixed.
Key advantages for patients
For better implant fit and alignment, measured during surgery.
Aims to reduce tissue trauma and early post-operative pain.
Planned around your own knee anatomy and deformity.
Helps many patients return to daily activities sooner.
Well-aligned implants are designed to support long-lasting results.
CDSCO-approved technology developed by Meril, Vapi.

What is MISSO robotic knee replacement?
MISSO is a robotic surgical system made in India by Meril Life Sciences. It assists the surgeon during total knee replacement by building a plan around your own knee anatomy, guiding the bone cuts and helping position the implant accurately. The surgeon performs and controls the operation at every step; the robot does not operate on its own.
Is MISSO approved for use in India?
Yes. MISSO received approval from India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) before its launch in 2024, and it is used for knee replacement in hospitals across India.
How is MISSO different from conventional knee replacement?
In conventional surgery the surgeon relies on manual cutting guides and visual judgement. With MISSO, a tracking camera follows your knee in real time and the robotic arm guides the saw to the planned depth and angle, so bone cuts and implant alignment match the plan more consistently. The implant itself is the same type of knee implant.
Will I recover faster with MISSO?
Robotic assistance aims to reduce unnecessary tissue trauma, which may help many patients start walking and physiotherapy sooner. Most patients at Globus Hospital stand and walk with support within a day of surgery. Recovery still depends on age, health, the condition of the knee and how well physiotherapy is followed.
Who is a good candidate for MISSO robotic knee replacement?
Patients with advanced knee osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or knee deformity (bow legs or knock knees) whose pain limits daily life despite medicines, physiotherapy or injections. Dr. R. K. Singh decides after examining you and reviewing your X-rays.
Should I choose MISSO or ROSA?
Both are advanced robotic systems with the same goal: an accurately aligned, well-balanced knee. Dr. R. K. Singh recommends the system that suits your knee, deformity and overall plan. Read the MISSO and ROSA comparison.
Can both knees be replaced with MISSO at the same time?
Bilateral (both knees) robotic replacement is possible for suitable patients. Whether it is done in one sitting or in two stages depends on your heart, lung and overall fitness, which the team assesses before surgery.
