Zero Error Knee Replacement

Pioneered in India by Dr. R. K. Singh. Every step of your knee replacement is planned, measured and verified, so nothing that decides the result is left to estimation.

The Globus signature procedure

Why a knee replacement succeeds or fails on millimetres

How natural a new knee feels, how well it bends and how long it lasts depend on a few measurable things: the position of the implant, the alignment of the leg and the balance of the ligaments around the joint. A few degrees off can mean a stiff, painful or unstable knee. The Zero Error approach exists to get these right for every patient, every time, with more than 16,000 knee replacements of experience behind it.

What is the Zero Error Technique?

Zero Error is a navigation-guided protocol that Dr. R. K. Singh introduced in India. A computer navigation system tracks your knee in real time during surgery, and robotic systems (MISSO and ROSA) guide the bone cuts. Each step is checked against the plan before moving on.

  • Plan Your knee is mapped and the implant size and position are planned for your own anatomy before any cut is made.
  • Measure During surgery, navigation measures limb alignment and the gaps between the bones in real time.
  • Verify Every bone cut is checked against the plan, to the degree, before the next step.
  • Balance Ligament tension is measured and balanced through the full range of movement, which is what makes the knee feel stable and natural.
  • Preserve A muscle-sparing approach protects healthy tissue for less pain and an earlier return to walking.

The implant itself is the same quality in both. The difference is the precision with which it is planned, placed and balanced.

Cruciate-retaining and high-flex philosophy, where clinically appropriate

The posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) is one of the knee’s own stabilising ligaments. When it is healthy and the knee can be balanced around it, Dr. Singh prefers to preserve it with a cruciate-retaining (CR) implant, keeping more of your natural knee. He performed the first cruciate-retaining robotic total knee replacement in Uttar Pradesh.

Where your bone, ligaments and lifestyle suit it, he may also choose a high-flexion (high-flex) implant design, made to allow deeper bending for activities such as squatting, sitting cross-legged and prayer positions that matter in Indian daily life.

These choices are made knee by knee. If the PCL is damaged, the deformity is severe or the knee cannot be balanced safely, a different (posterior-stabilised) design is the better choice, and Dr. Singh will explain why.

Zero Error knee replacement: FAQs

What is the Zero Error Technique?

It is the navigation-guided knee replacement protocol that Dr. R. K. Singh pioneered in India. Every important step, from the bone cuts to limb alignment and ligament balance, is measured and verified by computer navigation and robotic systems before the implant is fixed, instead of being judged by eye.

Is Zero Error the same as robotic knee replacement?

They work together. Robotic systems (MISSO and ROSA at Globus) help plan and carry out precise bone cuts. Zero Error is the wider protocol around them: careful planning, real-time verification, a muscle-sparing approach, ligament balancing and structured rehabilitation.

Does “Zero Error” mean the surgery cannot go wrong?

No surgery is free of risk. “Zero Error” describes the aim of removing guesswork from alignment and balance by measuring every step. Your surgeon will explain the risks and expected results for your knee before you decide.

Is every patient suitable for Zero Error knee replacement?

Most patients who need a knee replacement can have it, including many with deformity or a previous failed knee replacement. Some knees do not need surgery at all. See Do I need knee replacement?
